Arrive in Jaisalmer by train or flight and this is where your trip starts. You will be warmly received, and taken to your hotel. Rest and eat something, then begin your first sightseeing of the city. Start with a stroll through the Gadisar Lake, a lovely artificial lake, surrounded by temples and ghats. The golden architecture finds its reflection in the calm waters and forms a postcard-perfect scenery, more so in the sunset. See the royal palace, which is Visit Raj Mahal, located in the fort and is a complex latticework with massive courtyards. Don’t pass the Jain Temples, a group of beautifully carved temples constructed between 12 th to 15 th century. The carvings in marble here are the master-piece of art. Then explore the Patwon Ki Haveli, one of the most splendid havelis in Rajasthan. Its cut windows, murals and architecture give tales of the good trading history of Jaisalmer. You can also visit Salim Singh Ki Haveli and Nathmal Ki Haveli, both of which have different designs and artistic details. Have dinner in one of the restaurants and then return to your hotel to take rest.
Wake up and have your breakfast, and then pack up and move out of the city and towards the Sam Sand Dunes some 40 km out of Jaisalmer. En route to it, visit the Kuldhara Village, an abandoned village that is shrouded in legends and mystery. Its desolated ruins and miles of sandy roads are the storylines of an ancient people who disappeared in the middle of the night centuries ago.
