Chetram Holidays offers you an exciting 6 Nights / 7 Days Spiti Package that takes adventure seekers on the journey of their dreams to discover one of the most dramatic natural landscapes in India. Spiti Valley does not only take you there, but it puts you to the test, thrills your senses, and delights you with the views that you will never forget. This trip is full of twists and turns in the mountains, faceless mountain hamlets, awfully harsh streets, fresh air in the mountains, and starlit skies. The tour is designed to provide you adventures drenched in adrenaline as well as peaceful opportunities to feel the beauty. You will walk over landscapes that range between green valleys to arid mountains, cross rivers of turquoise blue and put your tent under a sky full of stars at one the most scenic lakes of the highlands in the world. You will be able to sit back and relax knowing our experienced drivers, comfortable stays, and well-planned route will take care of the rest.
The tour will start in Shimla, where you meet our driver. The journey to Kalpa is very long and immensely scenic, as it traces the roads along the Sutlej River. The farther into the mountains you go the colder it gets, the denser the woods and the orchards full of apples and the villages seem less intimate in the windings of the road. Later in the afternoon, you will reach Kalpa, a quiet village that provides a view of the Kinnaur Kailash hills. Once at your hotel, you could go on a short stroll around the village; observe the wooden houses in your style; and see the sun set on the snow-capped peaks. The silence of the mountains will be a warm-up to the adventure you are going to have.
The trip proceeds further into the Himalayas after breakfast. It is one of the most exciting drives in Himachal with its rocky mountains and narrow cliff sides and panoramic views of the turquoise rivers way below. You will go through small communities and see how life flourishes through the barren but scenic lands. The landscape contrasts when you arrive in Spiti-fertile highlands turn into bare dramatic hills. In the evening you get to Kaza, which is the capital of Spiti Valley. Once you have checked into your guesthouse, have a brief walk to get a feel of the place. The thin air and wide skies will immediately remind you you are now in one of the highest inhabited areas in the world.
This day is devoted to cultural and natural sites near Kaza. Begin on the trip by visiting the popular Key Monastery, which seems to be sitting on a hilltop looking over the valley. Within, you will get to see ancient murals, manuscripts, and monks in their daily prayers. Then visit Kibber Village which is one of the highest motorable villages in the world. It is a wonderful place, surrounded with rocky mountains giving a feeling of eternity, as well as having outstanding views. Hopefully, you will be able to see blue sheep or Himalayan foxes as well. The experience of driving there is an adventure as well, it is full of curved hills and abrupt views of steep valleys. In the evening, come back to Kaza and have a warm dinner and have a rest.
Many travelers look forward to this day. Begin with Langza, the fossil village where there are traces of ancient marine fossils. The statue of the Buddha in the valley that overshadows the valley is an unforgettable sight. Slowly move on to Hikkim, the world highest post office- send a post card to commemorate. Proceed to Komic, one of the most elevated villages having a motor drive-in. Make a pause at each stop to have a walk, greet people and enjoy mountain air of altitude which is thin but clean. The circuit is an incomparable combination of adventure driving, culture and scenery. Get back to Kaza in the evening and relax in the mountain night.
Today’s drive is all out adventure. The route between Kaza and Chandratal would involve unpaved and rocky paths with waters passing directly across the road. As we turn, we see a fresh view- mountains, rivers, and open air. The view of the high altitude lake will render you breathless just as you near Chandratal. It is also referred to as the Moon Lake, and shows in blue and green reflections of the surrounding peaks. Soak in the serene afternoon and spend your evening time by the water. Sleep out under the stars in chilly, clear air at night- one of the best localities in India to observe the stars.
Start your drive to Manali after an early breakfast. The road passes through the renowned Kunzum Pass, which gives you an eye-catching perspective of glaciers and mountains. A downward journey to Manali takes one through Lahaul Valley, which is foiled by lush green fields and rivers in striking contrast with the surreal beauty of Spiti. That road is very testing, water crossings and super slender twists and yet the evolving view is one that makes you all hooked up on the windows. At night, you reach Manali where you can sleep on a comfortable bed of the hotel after the camping experience.
On your last day in the mountains, you have a leisurely breakfast. You might also get time to take a stroll around the streets of Manali or visit the Beas River depending on your subsequent travel plans. It is not long before we bid farewell to the adventure filled lads of Spiti. You come away, not only with photos but with tales--of little mountain-passes, of starlit nights, of out-of-the-way villages, and with the excitement of just driving along.
