This 7-day excursion amid Rajasthan starts from Jaipur and explores the rich history of Udaipur, Chittorgarh, and Jodhpur. You would start in Jaipur, the pink city palace, and proceed south to Udaipur, the City of Lakes. After a typical breakfast, you go in the morning to Amber Fort, a couple of kilometers from the city. The ancient fort lies on top of a hill and commands gorgeous views over the valley below. Within, you can explore Sheesh Mahal (palace of mirrors), the Diwan-e-Aam (public chamber), and Ganesh Pol. On the way back, stop at Jal Mahal, the Water Palace which appears to float in the middle of Man Sagar Lake.
Later, go to the Albert Hall Museum or take a peaceful stroll in the Ram Niwas Garden's landscaped gardens. Begin the day with breakfast, after which visit the wonderful City Palace of Udaipur. Situated on Lake Pichola's shores, the palace complex is decorated with balconies, beautiful courtyards, and museum sections containing royal treasures. Then proceed on foot to Jagdish Temple, a well-carved temple for Lord Vishnu. Then visit Saheliyon Ki Bari, an amicable garden laid out for maharajas' ladies. Breakfast, then we leave and drive to Chittorgarh, a 2.5-hour journey from Udaipur. India's greatest fort Chittorgarh Fort is situated in the ancient town of this heritage destination. The imposing gates and walls of the fort tell you stories of bravery, sacrifice, and Rajput pride as you proceed to the fort via its entrance gates. Inside the fort complex, visit Vijay Stambh (Victory Tower), Kirti Stambh (Tower of Fame), Rana Kumbha Palace, and the ancient temples that are dispersed around. Here, hear the mythological legend of Rani Padmini and the ritual of Jauhar which represents the spirit of this place.
The view from the ramparts of the fort widens to jade fields and rock ruins, an atmosphere of timelessness. Spend a peaceful few moments at Gaumukh Reservoir, a sacred water reservoir atop the cliff. After sightseeing, drive back to Udaipur or drive to your next destination Jodhpur. Or overnight halt near Chittorgarh or drive on ahead for an easy drive. Overnight stay as per travel sequence.
Today you begin early and drive to Jodhpur, 5–6 hours by road depending upon the road route from Chittorgarh. Jodhpur, or the Blue City, is famous for its blue-colored homes and breathtaking Mehrangarh Fort with a bird's eye view of the entire town. After check-in and some free time, begin sightseeing at Mehrangarh Fort. Walk through its imposing gates, breathtaking palaces, and halls of antique objects.
The view from the ramparts of the fort is stunning with a bird's-eye view of the blue fort walls of the old town below. Go next to Jaswant Thada, a marble cenotaph built in memory of Maharaja Jaswant Singh II. A serene mood pervades here with white marble glinting in a small pond. Later, take an evening stroll in the streets of the old city near the Clock Tower and Sardar Market. Tie-dye clothes, spices, and handicrafts can be bought from here.
