Take an early morning flight from Bangalore to Chandigarh. You will arrive at Shimla via road journey from Chandigarh. This twisty alpine road wraps around verdant green mountains, surrounded by pine forests and quaint villages. Upon arrival, immediately proceed to The Ridge, the hub of Shimla, surrounded by stunning views of mountains. Visit Christ Church, one of the oldest churches in North India. Walk through Lakkar Bazaar known for wooden handicrafts and woollens. Finish your night with a lazy stroll over Mall Road accompanied by some hot momos, Himachali rajma chawal, or steaming cups of coffee overlooking panoramic mountain views.
Post breakfast, simply take a 16-km drive to Kufri from Shimla. And then, visit the Himalayan Nature Park, a conservation reserve with indigenous taxa of exceptional value to the Himalayan biodiversity. Next, take a horse or yak ride to Mahasu Peak, the highest point in Kufri from where you can capture breathtaking views of the snow-capped mountains. Sled rides, skiing, and snowboarding are many when it comes to winter. From here proceed to Fagu Valley, a calm location for photography and mountain breeze. Come back after exploring a few local dhabas where you can slurp some hot Maggi, paranthas and the famous tea amid stunning valley views.
The drive to Manali is a long one but we will see some magnificent views. Take a break at Sundernagar Lake for some pictures followed by Pandoh Dam with river Beas emerging beneath. Enter Kullu Valley, which has beautiful apple orchards and a magical pine forest.
At the Kullu shawl factory, see skilled artisans at work weaving traditional Himachali design. If time permits, do white river water rafting in Beas River before leaving for Manali. Wrap up with a leisurely walk by the riverside.
Go on a drive to Solang Valley, the adventurers' paradise. In summer, have a go at paragliding, zorbing or the hazarding ropeway ride that takes you to an elevation. Visit the Hadimba Devi temple set amidst cedar forests, and make your way to Old Manali for the other-worldly vibes of Manu Temple. Well known for its healing properties, the Vashisht Hot Springs offers you a chance to take a bath with your feet and for good reason too. You can walk along the Beas River and then visit Tibetan Monastery here, after that you can chill in cozy cafes with live music in Old Manali amidst apple orchards. Before ending the day try some of the authentic Himachali food such as "Siddu” or “Babaru”.
After all, drive back from Manali to Chandigarh from where you can enjoy your last views of the mountains, valleys and rivers of Himachal. Board in your flight to Bangalore from there carry the snow, adventure and mountain charm home.
