Have a good breakfast and embark on a day-long tour of Jaipur. Begin with a tour of Amber Fort which is situated on a hilltop. It has lovely courtyards, walled-minarete halls and marvelous vistas of the surrounding lake and hills. Then go to the City Palace where the royal family of Jaipur still resides. Stroll about on majestic halls, royal museums and massive architectural feats which speak of a rich royal heritage. At nearby Jantar Mantar you will find a centuries old observatory crammed with huge instruments to study astronomy.On your way back, make a stop at the Hawa Mahal or Palace of Winds. This building constructed using pink sandstone has 953 small windows so that the royal women view life in the streets but cannot be recognized. These lanes are distinct from Jodhpur and character-filled. In this route visit the old stepwell Toorji Ka Jhalra, constructed by a royal queen, but now remodelled very beautifully.
