Your journey starts in Udaipur, which is popularly referred to as India's most romantic city. Arrive and check into your hotel, ready to discover the city. Start with a visit to the sprawling City Palace, situated on the shores of Lake Pichola. The massive complex of courtyards, balconies, and halls provides a glimpse of the Mewar dynasty's royal heritage. Take in the stunning view of the lake and city around it from its several vantage points.

Then walk down to Jagdish Temple, a stunningly carved shrine for Lord Vishnu. Then enjoy a serene boat ride over Lake Pichola. As your boat glides smoothly over the lake, see the Lake Palace and the Jag Mandir, two monuments floating on the lake. Wind up your day at one of Udaipur's roof restaurants above the lake. Overnight at Udaipur.

Palaces and gardens of Udaipur

Start the day with a visit to Saheliyon Ki Bari, a garden built for royal ladies with marble fountains, lotus pools, and shaded pavilions. The atmosphere here is quiet and fresh, a perfect start to your morning. Afterward, head to the Vintage Car Museum, where you’ll see classic vehicles once owned by the Maharajas.

Evening visit to Fateh Sagar Lake and a leisurely walk on the lakeside. You can also explore local art galleries and miniature painting centers featuring Udaipur's cultural heritage. You can spend your evening shopping for Rajasthani handicrafts or viewing a cultural dance performance at Bagore Ki Haveli. Overnight stay at Udaipur.

Drive from Udaipur to Jodhpur

After breakfast, you embark on your road journey to Jodhpur, the second-largest city in Rajasthan and approximately 250 km from Udaipur. The road journey takes around 5 to 6 hours and presents you with views of rural landscapes and desert settlements. Upon arrival at Jodhpur, check into your hotel and spend some time relaxing.

In the evening, make a short excursion to the old Clock Tower and Sardar Market. The colorful bazaar is filled with a mix of local products, everything from spices and cloth to handicrafts. Watch the city glow golden as sunset comes behind the roofs. Overnight in Jodhpur.

Blue City forts and heritage

Begin your day with a visit to Mehrangarh Fort, India's most beautiful fort. The fort dominates the city and offers panoramic views of the blue havelis below. Explore the palaces, galleries, and courtyards of the fort, such as the Sheesh Mahal, Moti Mahal, and Phool Mahal. The museum in the fort has royal arms, costumes, and paintings.

Next, go to Jaswant Thada, a serene marble cenotaph constructed in memory of Maharaja Jaswant Singh II. Its serene atmosphere and intricate carvings make it a journey worth remembering. You can go on a trip to Umaid Bhawan Palace in the afternoon, with half of it being a royal house and the other half being a museum. Spend your evening at the old city, strolling on blue-painted roads and enjoying some Rajasthani street food. Overnight stay in Jodhpur.

Desert drive to Jaisalmer

Proceed after breakfast and drive down on the road to Jaisalmer, the renowned Golden City of Rajasthan. The desert ride should take you around 5 to 6 hours and traverses arid lands covered with desert flora, camels, and small settlements of villages. You may opt to take a small trip to Pokhran Fort during this drive.

Reach Jaisalmer at night and check into a hotel. Walk up to Gadisar Lake, a tranquil reservoir flanked by temples and ghats, as the sun sets. The serene water mirrors the golden horizon, and the environment provides a serene spot to relax after the journey. Overnight in Jaisalmer.

Golden forts and desert culture in Jaisalmer

Begin your day at Jaisalmer Fort, one of the few living forts in the entire world. Within the massive yellow sandstone walls, there are homes, temples, cafes, and shopping malls. The winding narrow streets, Jain temples, and decorated havelis give this experience an air of history and vibrancy.

After the trip to the fort, go to Patwon Ki Haveli and Nathmal Ki Haveli, for instance, examples of fine sandstone craftsmanship of the past. In the afternoon, prepare for your drive to the Thar Desert. Drive down to Sam Sand Dunes, about 45 km away, where golden sands extend as if to the end of eternity in all directions.

Here, take a camel ride over the dunes as the desert sun sets behind the horizon. Rajasthani folk dances and a cultural show under the stars round off the evening. Watch Rajasthani folk dances at night with a local dinner at the desert camp and overnight in a luxury tent or desert resort.
