Arrival in Ahmedabad – The Walled City

 

Arrive at Ahmedabad, the first UNESCO World Heritage City of India. Get welcomed by our representative and check into your hotel.

 

Begin your tour to Gujarat Heritage with a guided walk in the Old City—along Pols (old quarters), Havelis, and Swaminarayan Temple. Explore the Sabarmati Ashram, the place where Mahatma Gandhi lived in India's quest for freedom.

 

Evening: Visit the Sidi Saiyyed Mosque, renowned for stone lattice cut-outs over windows, and Adalaj Stepwell, Indo-Islamic architectural marvel of the 15th century.

 

Overnight stay in Ahmedabad.

 

Ahmedabad – Patan – Modhera – Ahmedabad

 

Breakfast, followed by a day outing to Patan and Modhera.

 

Visit Rani Ki Vav (Queen's Stepwell), a World Heritage site, renowned for its stunning sculptures and multi-level architecture. Drive to Modhera Sun Temple, a 1000-year-old ancient sun god Surya temple with stunning astronomical designs and masterpieces.

 

Drive back to Ahmedabad in the evening.

Ahmedabad – Bhuj (Approx. 330 km / 6–7 hrs)

 

Morning breakfast. Check-out and depart on the journey to Bhuj, gateway to Kutch.

 

Visit Aina Mahal (Mirror Palace), Prag Mahal, and Bhujodi Craft Village where weavers produce Bandhani fabrics, Ajrakh prints, and Kutch embroidery. Heaven for textile and craft enthusiasts.

 

Free evening or shopping at the local bazaar.

 

Overnight stay at Bhuj.

 

Bhuj – Banni Villages – Bhuj

 

Today, embark on a cultural safari to Kutch's Banni area and traditional craft villages and tribal villages.

 

Visit towns such as Hodka, Nirona, and Dhordo, where Rogan art, Lacquer work, mirror embroidery, and mud-mirror Lippan art are on display. Witness the skills of the traditional village artisans and communicate with them.

 

Back to Bhuj by night travel.

Bhuj Overnight Stay.

 

Bhuj – Mandvi – Bhuj

 

Breakfast, then day excursion to Mandvi, beach resort town.

 

Visit the Vijay Vilas Palace, former summer palace of the former royal family of Kutch, renowned for its Rajput style and sea-side location. Relax in the afternoon on Mandvi Beach or take a visit to the shipyard, where wooden dhows are handcrafted.

Return to Bhuj in the evening.

 

Overnight stay in Bhuj.

 

Bhuj – Dwarka (Approx. 440 km / 8 hrs)

 

Early morning start for the long but picturesque journey to Dwarka, one of the seven holy Hindu cities and a Char Dham pilgrim center.

 

On arrival, check into hotel. Visit Aarti ceremony in the evening at Dwarkadhish Temple with reverence to Lord Krishna.

 

Night halt at Dwarka.

 

Dwarka – Bet Dwarka – Porbandar – Somnath (Approx. 230 km / 5 hrs).

 

Start with a boat trip to Bet Dwarka, said to be the residence of Lord Krishna. Stop by Nageshwar Jyotirlinga, one of the 12 jyotirlingas or holy Shiva temples on the way.

 

Stop over in Porbandar, the birthplace of Mahatma Gandhi. See Kirti Mandir, his memorial museum dedicated to him.

 

Travel to Somnath, site of the famous Somnath Temple, the first of the 12 Jyotirlingas. Witness the temple's sound and light show narrating its glorious history.

 

Overnight at Somnath.

 

Somnath – Gir National Park (Approx. 70 km / 2 hrs)

 

Breakfast, followed by drive to Sasan Gir, the sole natural habitat of Asiatic Lions.

 

Afternoon, enjoy exciting Jeep Safari inside Gir National Park in the company of forest guides. In addition to lions, there are leopards, hyenas, crocodiles, and over 300 bird species inside the park.

 

Evening free at your jungle resort.

Gir – Junagadh – Ahmedabad (Train or Drive)

 

Drive to Junagadh, city of forts, stepwells, and temples, after breakfast.

 

Sightsee Uparkot Fort, constructed in 319 BC with ancient Buddhist caves, and Mahabat Maqbara, renowned for Indo-Gothic architecture. And, visit Ashokan Rock Edicts, with Emperor Ashoka's rock inscriptions.
