Post-lunch siesta and rest, walk along the Ganga at leisure before setting out for the evening's highlight the Ganga Aarti at Har Ki Pauri. Here, the ceremony is done by priests while brass lamps spin and chants reverberate. The river shines with diyas floating on it. Arrive in Barkot by late afternoon, take accommodation at a warm lodge, and rest. Later, take local food and relax around a mountain fire with panoramic views of forested hills.

Yamunotri Darshan and Return to Barkot

A filling morning breakfast paves the way for a tour to Yamunotri, the origin of River Yamuna. Proceed from Janki Chatti on a pony ride or trekking by foot to the temple. On reaching, take a dip in Surya Kund's hot water and make offerings. After darshan, proceed downhill and return to Barkot for dinner and the evening's introspection. The hill air seems divine after this initial haflong hill experience.

Barkot to Uttarkashi - Shiva's Valley

Breakfast, and your journey continues to Uttarkashi. Drifting through pine groves and river-side villages, you drive to the holy town by lunchtime. Check-in at a hotel, and then proceed to Kashi Vishwanath Temple. The serene environment and chanting usher in a peaceful ambiance. An evening strolling along the riverside and light dinner bring rest before ascending higher the next day.
