Arrival in Jodhpur

The trip to Marwar starts with Jodhpur commonly referred to as the Blue City due to its houses painted different shades of blue. Upon arrival, you will be welcomed by your own drive and taken to your hotel.

Take a few hours off then begin to visit the local sightseeing in Jodhpur. Go to the Clock Tower and the local Sardar Market, where the smells of spices and the colours of fabrics make up a vibrant environment. In the evening, you can walk in the small streets of the city or dine at the roof restaurant overlooking Mehrangarh Fort shining in the moonlight.

Jodhpur Sightseeing

Spend the day in the royal city of Jodhpur, after breakfast. Begin with the splendid Mehrangarh Fort, one of the greatest forts in India, built on a hill of rocks looking down on the city. Indoors, we can see the well-decorated palaces such as Phool Mahal and Moti Mahal and have a panoramic view of the blue houses underneath. Then visit Jaswant Thada which is a white marble cenotaph erected in honor of Maharaja Jaswant Singh II commonly known as the Taj Mahal of Marwar due to its magnificent architecture and serene gardens.

Next, see the Umaid Bhawan Palace which is partially occupied by the royal family of Jodhpur and also doubles up as a luxury hotel. You may visit its museum with the royal items.

Visit Jaisalmer

Have breakfast and leave for Jaisalmer, golden city of Rajasthan. Along the route, pass by Osian, an ancient city, with well carved Jain and Hindu temples. The Sachiya Mata Temple and the Mahavira Jain Temple boast of detailed carvings and architectural splendid designs.

Jaisalmer Sightseeing

In the morning, visit the beautiful Jaisalmer Fort also called the Sonar Quila or the Golden Fort. This fort is special as it has maintained stores, temples and families even in today's times. Explore its small streets and see old buildings, palaces and colorful local markets.

Then go to see Patwon Ki Haveli, a complex of five beautifully decorated havelis constructed by the rich businessmen. The carved windows and balconies as well as frescoes show the affluence and artistry of the old Marwar.

Another place worth seeing is Salim Singh Ki Haveli and Nathmal Ki Haveli, both which are beautiful in their carving of stone and their architecture. Explore Sam Sand Dunes

In the morning, after breakfast,  drive briefly to Kuldhara, the legendary deserted village, which is alleged to be haunted. Kuldhara, the former seat of a thriving community of Paliwal Brahmins, was abandoned in the middle of the night centuries ago. It is a haunting as well as a fascinating experience to walk through the ruins to get a glimpse of the past in Rajasthan.

Move on to Sam Sand Dunes which is on the periphery of the Thar Desert. It is the start of your desert adventure here, have a camel safari on the golden dunes when the sun is setting on the horizon. The sand changes its color as the evening sky changes it which makes it really a magical experience.

During the evening watch folk music and dance performances in the stars and then have a traditional Rajasthani dinner around a camp fire. Night in a desert camp at Sam Sand Dunes.

Arrive in Jodhpur

Early in the morning get up and have breakfast at the camp and enjoy a beautiful desert sunrise. Then, go back to Jodhpur, along the little towns, the desert highways.

Departure from Jodhpur
