Tour Plan

Arrival and Walk Along the Golden Streets of Jaisalmer

Arrival in Jaisalmer by train or flight. Our staff will meet and receive you at the airport or railway station and assist with the check-in at the hotel. After relaxation, start your first day by visiting the imposing Jaisalmer Fort. Constructed in 1156 AD by Rawal Jaisal, this is one of the world's only 'living forts,' where individuals continue to live and work inside its ramparts. The golden sandstone fort basks in the sunlight and glows like honey, particularly during the latter part of the day. Walk through the serpentine streets of the fort lined with tiny houses, temples, and shops.

Tour the Raj Mahal, Jain temples, and Laxminath Temple. At the summit of the fort, there's a stunning view of the city and the desert beyond. Tour the fort museum and learn about the legends of the Bhati Rajput kings. Take a stroll around the ancient bazaars around the fort, e.g., the Bhatia Bazaar and Sadar Bazaar. Have local Rajasthani food at a restaurant on top of a fort at night. Overnight at the hotel in Jaisalmer.

Visit old Havelis and unwind at Gadisar Lake

Start with Patwon Ki Haveli, a group of five havelis built by prosperous merchants in the 19th century. The complex latticework, jharokhas (balconies), and decorated pillars show the craftsmanship of those times. Move on to Nathmal Ki Haveli and Salim Singh Ki Haveli, both unique in their own right. Both these havelis blend Rajput and Islamic styles of architecture and are adorned with vintage paintings, mirror work, and carvings. Then, have a serene walk around Gadisar Lake. This lake was the primary water source for Jaisalmer.

The lake contains shrines, temples, and arches surrounding it and is ideal for taking photos, especially around sunset. Or, you can go for a paddle boat ride or just lounge around on the ghats and observe the local life go about. Evening outing to see local bazaars for Rajasthani traditional attire fabrics, mirror-work garments, silver jewelry, camel leather products, and wood carvings. Evening dinner at the hotel and overnight stay at Jaisalmer.

Camel Safari and Folk Night at Sam Sand Dunes

After a hearty breakfast, go to Sam Sand Dunes, about 40 km from Jaisalmer. Take a halt on the way to the 13th-century old deserted village of Kuldhara. Overnight, the whole village supposedly disappeared, as per a local legend, and now the village is said to be haunted. The ruins of the destroyed houses and vacant streets narrate silently the tale of the village. Proceed to Sam, where golden waves of desert splendor greet you. On arrival, check into your desert camp. The adventure starts with a camel ride on the dunes, accompanied by local camelmen. Watch the desert turn orange and gold, the photo-perfect country you shall never tire of.

In the evening after sunset, come back to the camp for a traditional Rajasthani night. Relax beneath the bonfire of the open sky while traditional desert songs are sung and danced to by folk singers and dancers. Savor the sumptuous buffet dinner of regional cuisine served at the camp. The experience of the open sky, gentle breeze, and melodious songs makes it a night to remember in the desert. Overnight stay in your comfortably equipped tent with modern amenities.

Tour to Bada Bagh and departure with desert memories

After exploring Bada Bagh, head back to the city. Based on your departing time, take time to explore more local attractions or at the markets for some last-minute shopping. We will drop you off at the railway station or airport as per your timing.
