Arrival in Mandawa – Discover the Painted Town

 

Your tour of Rajasthan will begin with your arrival at Mandawa, a picturesque town in the Shekhawati area of Rajasthan. Mandawa is famous for its breathtaking havelis (mansions) with beautiful wall paintings and old architecture.

 

Once check-in at your hotel, begin your sightseeing tour of Mandawa. Visit 18th-century Mandawa Fort with comfortable views and vintage atmosphere. Experience the narrow roads and view celebrated havelis like Gulab Rai Ladia Haveli, Hanuman Prasad Goenka Haveli, and other identical havelis. Scenes from day-to-day life and mythological scenes have been painted on the walls as murals. 

 

Overnight stay at heritage hotel of Mandawa.

 

Mandawa to Khimsar (Approx. 5 Hours)

 

Breakfast, hotel check-out and then drive to Khimsar, a small village situated on the outskirts of the Thar Desert. Khimsar is renowned for the Khimsar Fort, which has been developed as a heritage hotel.

 

After you reach Khimsar, relax and then proceed towards the fort, which lies in between sand dunes and forest. If possible, take a jeep safari to explore nearby desert villages. You can even spot blackbuck deer and beautiful birds here.

Khimsar to Pushkar (Approx. 4 Hours)

 

Early morning after breakfast, visit the holy city of Pushkar which is one of the oldest Indian cities. Pushkar is a sacred city and well-known because of the existence of Pushkar Lake and Brahma Temple, which is the sole temple of Lord Brahma in the whole world.

 

On arrival, check in at your hotel. Subsequently, take a stroll by the lake, go to Brahma Temple, and shop along the vibrant streets of handicrafts, attire, and street food stalls.

Pushkar to Bundi (Approx. 5–6 Hours)

 

Leave after breakfast for Bundi, a picturesque town with a reputation for palaces, step-wells, and painting. Bundi is located amidst Aravalli hills and is full of the charm of yesteryears.

 

Once you reach Bundi, rest in a hotel and explore Taragarh Fort, a fort situated atop a hill, which gives a great view of the town. Explore the Garh Palace, a beautiful building that houses beautiful murals and mirror work. Also, see the Raniji ki Baori, one of Rajasthan's most beautiful step-wells.

Bundi to Chittorgarh (Around 3 Hours)

 

Breakfast today, journey to Chittorgarh, the valour and sacrifice city. Chittorgarh is along the river Bhagirath and proudly contains the largest of India's forts – Chittorgarh Fort, and also a World Heritage Site according to UNESCO.

 

On reaching Chittorgarh, check in to your hotel and then go to visit the huge fort. Inside the fort, visit Vijay Stambh (Victory Tower), Rani Padmini Palace, Kirti Stambh (Tower of Fame), Meera Temple, etc. Each part of this fort is a testament to courage, love, and spirituality.

 

Take an overnight stay in your hotel at Chittorgarh.

 

Chittorgarh to Mount Abu (Approx. 6 Hours

 

After a relaxing breakfast, prepare to drive to Mount Abu, the sole hill station of Rajasthan. Located in the Aravalli Hills, Mount Abu is renowned for its pleasant climate, lakes, and scenic temples.

 

After arriving there, relax at your hotel. In the evening, visit Nakki Lake, from where you can have a serene boat ride. Also, visit the Sunset Point, which provides a beautiful view of the sun setting behind the hills.
