Chetram Holidays is a reputed Indian wildlife and nature travel agency. We believe that the beauty of nature should be enjoyed in a complete way, comfortably, respectful to the wildlife species, in a balance of adventure and security. Our Discovering Jim Corbett National Park package allows you to enter the forest, listen to the wild, watch animals in their natural habitat, enjoy birds, rivers and forest, and walk back home refreshed. We plan your safari drives, guided walks, comfortable accommodation and local expertise during more than 3 nights and 4 days so that you can take full advantage of the wild, without concern.
Ramnagar is the entry point to the Jim Corbett National Park, which is reached by road or train. Chetram Holidays will collect you and drive to your lodge or resort in the vicinity of the park. Once settled in, enjoy a refreshing lunch, with forest or river scenery. During the afternoon, one can visit local places of nature: Garjia Devi Temple on the rocks near the Kosi River will offer a serene view of the river, or one can walk along the river banks to observe birds, fish or simply enjoy the view of the river. Your first safari in a jeep into a buffer area will be in the evening. This also provides the opportunity of watching deer, langurs or perhaps wild boar or an elephant since they are more active in the evening. Go back to the lodge to eat, tell stories of the wild animals, and sleep on the morrow.
Wake early and go on a jeep safari into a selected area at dawn, it may be either Bijrani, Jhirna or other area, as per your permit. The animals were best spotted in the early morning when the forest was just getting its eyes open: birds chirped, deer wandered, predators awoke. Catch the dawn through the trees. When the safari is over, come back to the lodge and have breakfast and some rest. In the midmorning you can take a birdwatching walk along a trail or riverbank; there are more than 580 bird species in Corbett. Resting after lunch, a walk through nature or going to a local waterfall (when it is open). Late afternoon, expect a second safari (jeep or canter), possibly still further into the forest. It is then back to dinner at the lodge, reminiscing on sightings so far and what to expect on a full-day safari.
This is the key component of your wild life adventure. You’ll go off in a full-day safari with an early breakfast, into either a core zone, like (where feasible) Dhikala, or the best still open core zone. By jeep or canter you will ride across grasslands, sal forests, river belts, meadows (chaur) and marshes. The naturalist guide will follow indications: pugmarks, fresh dung, calls and movement of prey. You will be having a packed lunch either in a forest area or a rest house within the reserve. You will continue the search in the afternoon, seeking such elusive game as tigers or leopards, such large mammals as elephants by waterholes, reptiles by streams, and birds in ponds or by riverbanks. You will spend the night in a forest rest house, should permission be granted, or go back to a lodge in the outer area. The jungle magic is added with night sounds of insects and nocturnal animals.
Rise early and have a last safari drive before the sun rises – this again provides another opportunity to view wildlife in low light and cooler weather. You can visit waterholes or areas where you have observed animals previously. The safari ends with breakfast, then the packing up, and finalizing payments. If there is time, visit Corbett falls or any other place nearby to have one more moment of nature and take a picture. Chetram Holidays will then see you off to Ramnagar station or to your next destination of travel with many pleasant recollections.
